LASCOHET ORGANISES ONE-DAY ERP TRAINING FOR MANAGEMENT AND ACADEMIC STAFF

As part of its commitment to meeting the requirements of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and strengthening institutional efficiency, the Management of Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET) has organised a one-day training programme on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) for Deans, Heads of Schools, and Heads of Departments of the College.

The training, designed by NBTE for all institutions under its supervision nationwide, is aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency as well as improving teaching and learning systems through the adoption of a unified digital platform. The programme also forms part of NBTE’s initiative to register all accredited institutions on the ERP platform.

Addressing participants during the session, the NBTE Resource Team Lead, Mr. Arabi Yusuf, explained that the ERP portal is designed to connect thousands of NBTE-accredited institutions under a single national framework. According to him, the platform will significantly reduce operational costs associated with multiple software subscriptions, prevent loss of student records, and eliminate delays in regulatory compliance. He further noted that the system will eradicate manual record-keeping and streamline institutional operations.

Mr. Yusuf added that the ERP platform is structured to host comprehensive records of students admitted into all NBTE-accredited institutions, from inception through graduation and alumni status. He stated that the data would be shared and utilised by NBTE in synergy with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

He further highlighted that the platform enables institutions to manage admissions,. examinations, Learning Management Systems (LMS), human resources, finance, and compliance processes on a single platform. “Student and graduate data are captured once and automatically transmitted to NBTE, MoE, and NYSC,” he said.

Reiterating the benefits of the ERP system, Mr. Yusuf emphasised that it offers a cost-effective solution while maintaining operational efficiency. He listed institutional autonomy, streamlined compliance, transparency and accountability, accreditation support, validation, documentation authentication, and reporting as key advantages embedded in the platform.

In his remarks, the Provost of LASCOHET, Professor Raheem Akewushola, expressed appreciation to the NBTE representatives for the insightful training, noting that it would be of immense benefit to the College. He encouraged participants to fully utilise the knowledge gained to enhance their professional competence and institutional productivity.

Professor Akewushola also disclosed that the College would soon organise an in-house training programme to extend the ERP knowledge to other members of staff. In addition, he announced that Management would provide laptops to support and enhance teaching performance across all programmes being run in the College, assuring that the promise would be fulfilled in the near future.
